I'm having a sale!

We interrupt this regularly scheduled blog for a brief commercial break....

Great for older and younger girls alike!
I'm trying to get back into making pretties again! I've wished for it long enough, it's time to do something about it. So, to celebrate (and make more room for new things) I'm having a sale at SophieSnaps.

Visit my Etsy shop and enter code "blogreaders" at checkout to get a 10% discount on your purchase! Shipping is always free, by the way. This discount will also apply to any new items I list.

This sale will go on through December 15, perfect for Christmas presents and stocking stuffers!

Day 27: Daily routine

I'm playing catch up today, because there was nothing routine about my day yesterday. We traveled through five states and made it home from our Thanksgiving trip.
Today, though, back to business as usual.. This picture is of something I routinely do (as in almost every single day) - make dinner.

Day 27: Transportation

Since its a rainy rainy day here, I can't take the picture I had in mind. This one does include two different modes, though! Automobiles at a train track.

Day 25: Artwork

My photo prompt for today is artwork. I thought I'd take a picture of my favorite kind: budding creativity.

Day 24: Gratitude

It's Thanksgiving. We cooked. And ate. And played. And had dessert. Now we're watching Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. This picture is of the girls playing at Grandma's house. It's Sophie's first visit here. Everyone is having a good time.

Windmills!

On our travels today, we passed through a wind farm! I'm not sure of the exact location, but it's in Indiana somewhere. There were windmills as far as we could see. They are huge!

Day 23: In my closet

I realized something when I was taking this picture. I have a LOT of neutrals. And red. I'm trying to work more color into my wardrobe.

Luck

Even though I'm not participating in NaBloPoMo (or NaNoWriMo but that's another story...) I came across today's blog prompt and really wanted to use it.

Day 22: What is the luckiest thing that has ever happened to you, and why?

Several things immediately sprang to mind. First, I'm lucky that my summer working in the Carribbean never happened. I was very disappointed at first (what beach-loving college kid wouldn't be?) but that turned out to be the summer I met my husband. Luck? Divine intervention? Either way, I'm grateful it happened.

Another "lucky" thing was the fact that we were able to leave Children's Hospital in February 2010 with a healthy, seizure-free baby. I am thankful for that blessing daily, especially since I know of other families who did not get the same result.

I feel lucky that we have such a wonderful daughter in Emma. Sure, she's a normal 13 year old girl, with all the attitude and hormones and sassiness that entails, but she is also a loving daughter and big sister. I am blessed knowing that I can count on her when I really need it.

I am lucky that my parents have been married to each other for forty years and are still happy together.

I am lucky that when I went swimming in the river with my friend and my then-boyfriend on the day I graduated high school, and got caught in the current that pulled me under a boulder and trapped me, that I was able to fight and kick my way out and not drown. I am also lucky that my friend was strong enough to jump in the river and pull me out of the current.

I was lucky to have that friend for many years, although I was unlucky enough to attend his funeral almost a year ago.

I am lucky that a chance conversation in a Sunday School class I attended on a whim led to the job I've enjoyed the past three years (and counting).

I am lucky that I love my husband and enjoy spending time with him.

Above all, though, I don't believe in luck. Not this kind of luck, anyway. Luck with scratch-off lottery tickets or raffle drawings, maybe, but not major life events. Too many random things have come together in amazing ways for me to think it's merely luck or coincidence. God, fate, whatever you believe in, but I have no doubt a higher power was instrumental in getting me to where I am today.

Day 22: Clothing

You know, even though I complain about clothes all over my daughter's room, and we all complain about doing laundry, we are truly blessed. This small mess of clothing is a fraction of what she has in her room, and yet it's more than many on our planet have for their whole family.

Day 21: Where I sleep

My bed was taken over! Although it usually is in the mornings. Sophie watches Sesame Street while I get ready for work. Sometimes our cat joins her.

The quilt was made by my aunt when I was ten years old.

Day 20: Seasonal

Today's prompt merely says "seasonal." According to my calendar, it's almost Thanksgiving, but if you look around at the houses and the shops, it's apparently Christmas... So I turn to Internetland for today's picture ;)
Isn't this beautiful? It's how the streets look here, except the leaves are brown. The "pretty" ones are gone now.

Day 19: Best friend

This picture was taken the end of our first year of college. We met the very beginning of that year. We are still friends, fifteen years later. We went through boyfriends and breakups together, and the ins and outs of adjusting to college life. Our kids have passed books, toddler dishes, and toys back and forth. She was in my wedding fourteen years ago, and my daughter was in hers six years later. We don't get to spend as much time together as we used to, but we're just a call, text, or email away.

Day 18: Something new

I have become a coffee drinker. Not plain coffee, that's still awful. I need some chocolate or caramel or something to make it delicious. But, I've been drinking quite a bit of it recently!

This is my new cup. It's ceramic, with a black and white pattern and white silicon lid & holder. I found it at Old Navy, a store I rarely visit, for half what I've seen it elsewhere! It's pretty, too. I take it to work with me and refill it during the day.

Day 17: Memories

Today's prompt is memories. I have so many great memories, but not photographs. I remember all the trips in my childhood, traveling all over the country, seeing all kinds of things. We would stop at "places of interest" and experienced so many things! I remember our wedding - most of it. It was a bit of a blur. I remember my high school prom - I loved my dress. I remember when Emma was born. She seemed so tiny! She was the first newborn I ever held. I remember my first date, and my first heartbreak. I remember the first time I saw my husband.
